Where’s the best place to stay in Olbia to easily get around on foot in the evening and during the day using only public transport? And where’s the nightlife in Olbia? Where to stay in Olbia on a budget? In this guide, we’ll see all the answers.
Best areas to stay in Olbia
On the map below, you can see the liveliest evening area in red, and the two avenues where the stops for almost all urban and intercity buses connecting the city are located in blue, that may helpful to visit Olbia and surrondings, including many beaches, just by local bus without needing a car.
So, if you find accommodation in Olbia’s historic center or a short distance from the coloured areas, you’ll be perfectly positioned to reach any destination in just a few steps.
Where’s the best place to stay in Olbia?
Olbia certainly isn’t cheap when it comes to accommodation, especially in the center. But there are some deals. By clicking here you’ll find the map with all accommodations in the central area; below are some properties I’d recommend for every price range!
- La Galerie: a small guesthouse in a perfect location to reach all the mentioned areas in a 5-minute walk, on a quiet side street. One of the city’s cheapest options, I stayed there and I recommend it, but only if you’re not tall, otherwise bumping your head on the entrance stairs is inevitable 😀
- Hotel Cavour: 3-star hotel right in the historic center, rooms for 1 to 4 people with prices that aren’t excessive compared to the average, 24h reception, bar, Wi-Fi, room service;
- L’essenza Hotel: 4-star hotel in the center, pets allowed, bike rental available on site;
- Hotel Panorama: 4-star hotel with rooms ranging from the cheapest to suites with views over the entire city; Spa, gym, free parking, bar.
Nightlife in Olbia
Where’s the evening life in Olbia?
It’s easy to reach and is mainly found in 3 adjacent squares and two pedestrian avenues, enclosed by the red polygon on the map above:
- Corso Umberto I
- Via Regina Elena
- Piazza Matteotti
- Piazza Mercato
- Piazza Regina Margherita

Almost all the evening life and activities like bars, restaurants, ice cream shops are here, as well as the monuments and best places for an after-dinner stroll, since they are all pedestrian areas.
For those looking for wild nightlife or some clubs, Olbia probably isn’t the right place. You’ll find some clubs only on weekends, while life here is quieter and more suitable for couples and families.
Recommended areas for getting around by public transport
To take public transport, as mentioned before, it’s best to find accommodation near the two avenues in the blue polygon on the map: Viale Mameli and Corso Vittorio Veneto. On these two streets, you’ll find all the urban and intercity bus stops, such as:
- The urban buses of ASPO (schedules and lines here), connecting the city, the airport in 10 minutes, and some beaches in 30 minutes like Bados, Pittulongu, and Porto Istana. So, for those staying a few days in Olbia, there’s the option to spend some days at the beach without a car (which, by the way, would be difficult to park in the city).
- The intercity buses run by the ARST company.
- Other intercity buses from Turmo Travel or Deplano that go towards Palau, Santa Teresa di Gallura, San Teodoro, and Nuoro.
