Where to stay in Sevilla: best areas, hotels and apartments

This guide starts with some good news: Finding the best areas to stay in Sevilla isn’t difficult or expensive! 🙂

Sevilla is one of the Spanish cities with the largest and most livable historic center at any time of day, simply by walking. You can easily find hotels and apartments to stay in Sevilla, from the most budget-friendly hostels and guesthouses in typical buildings, to 5-star hotels complete with all services and city views.

Where’s the best place to stay in Sevilla?

The most practical areas to stay in Sevilla are those in the historic center and its immediate surroundings, highlighted on the map below, almost all within the “ring road” that surrounds the city:

The red zone marks the historical city center area, the best for staying in Sevilla, where you have all the advantages: stepping out of your hotel on foot and immediately breathing in the Sevillian atmosphere or reaching it in a few steps by walking through mostly pedestrian avenues, as well as proximity to all major monuments and areas of interest.

Yellow zones are other areas that are still quite good for staying in Sevilla if you find good deals or if the red zone is already full, provided you walk a few extra minutes to reach the heart of the city.

Where to stay in Sevilla: the Center

It might be a bit obvious, but the historical center is absolutely the best area to stay in Sevilla.

We’re talking about the largest slice in the south of the red polygon on the map, which identifies both the true center of Sevilla and the areas of Santa Catalina and Barrio Santa Cruz that are part of it.

During the day, you can effortlessly visit all of Sevilla’s main attractions, from the very famous Plaza de Espana to the Setas de Sevilla, from which you can see the entire city from above (or join one of the Free Walking Tours organized in the city and visit them all in a few hours with the help of an expert guide!).

Even at night, in the areas around the cathedral, in Barrio Santa Cruz, around Plaza de la Alfalfa, and from Plaza Nueva to Plaza de Toros, there’s always life thanks to the various bars, tapas bars, restaurants, and tourists strolling through Sevilla’s relaxed streets.

Apart from a few narrow streets where both cars and pedestrians pass (and where the sidewalks are quite narrow :lol:), the rest of the center is predominantly pedestrian, and you won’t have any worries while walking.

Flamenco Shows in Sevilla

Needless to say, you’ll find various flamenco shows, in the city where it was born, whether professional or amateur. To find them, simply look at the signs you’ll encounter on the street day by day.

Alternatively, if you prefer to find and book them in advance, take a look at this list of flamenco shows and also this other one.

Keep in mind that if you’re traveling in summer, especially July/August, air conditioning is an essential requirement, given the temperatures this city can reach. Below, some of the most interesting accommodations:

  • Lisdos : a really budget-friendly guesthouse with air conditioning and free wifi in a typically styled building, right in the center;
  • Hotel Plaza : a competitively priced three-star hotel in the historic center with A/C, free wifi, and some rooms with a terrace to see the city from above, all the way to the cathedral;
  • Sevilla Palace : a three-star hotel with classic furnishings and modern bathrooms, right next to Setas de Sevilla;
  • Las Casas de los Mercaderes : housed inside an 18th-century building in Sevilla’s historic commercial area, it boasts a central courtyard with a bright glass roof and a terrace with city views;
  • Hotel Casa del Poeta: a 4-star hotel with truly well-kept interiors, accessible from a pedestrian avenue just a few meters from the cathedral;
  • EME Catedral Hotel : a 5-star hotel next to the cathedral with a rooftop pool and bar with views of the city.

Where to stay in Sevilla - Alameda de Hercules

Another good area to stay in Sevilla is Alameda de Hercules, identified by the northernmost tip in the red polygon on the map.

Alameda de Hercules is a large (actually, very large) tree-lined square in Sevilla where there are many bars, mainly active in the evening thanks to the many visitors. In the photo above, you can see a small corner of it at sunset, before it starts to get crowded.

It’s a good area to stay in Sevilla because you can walk around its surroundings, eat or drink something without too much car traffic, while you can then reach the rest of the historic center by crossing the road that cuts horizontally through the middle of the center, near Setas de Sevilla.

The disadvantage of staying in this area is that if you plan to frequently visit the center or the areas near the famous Plaza de Espana, you’ll have to walk 15-20 minutes to get there.

Here are some noteworthy hotels for staying in Sevilla in the Alameda de Hercules area:

  • Sacristia de Santa Ana : located in an eighteenth-century manor, it offers free coffee all day, elegant rooms, free Wifi, air conditioning, and parquet floors;
  • Patio de La Alameda : it occupies a restored 19th-century palace, featuring a typical city courtyard and directly overlooking the square;
  • Hotel Dona Lola : a well-kept 2-star hotel with colorful and original interiors;
  • Hotel Venecia : a 3-star hotel with well-kept rooms, some of which have a bidet.

The northern part of downtown Sevilla

The area highlighted in yellow on the map above the red polygon doesn’t have particular attractions in terms of monuments and nightlife. It can be considered for staying in Sevilla if the previous areas are already full or if you’re traveling during peak season.

Getting from this area to the center requires at least a 20-30 minute walk depending on where you are (or otherwise, you could consider some of the buses that run along the outer perimeter).

If you don’t want to use the bus to reach the airport, you can consider a transfer from WelcomePickups that waits for you directly at the airport.

Triana

Characteristic area: 3/5
Convenience for going out at night: 5/5
Attractions: 2/5

The Triana area is the one in the yellow wedge highlighted in the bottom left of the map, across the river.

Triana could be a good choice for staying in Sevilla, once again, if you don’t find good deals in the previous areas.

The Triana area is essentially an avenue with a series of bars and some shops, known for being quite active in the evening, especially on weekends, without any particular excesses.

If you find accommodation in this area, try to stay close to Triana’s main avenue or the “riverfront,” as moving away from it quickly thins out into the suburbs and there isn’t much else. From Triana, you’ll have to cross the river to visit the center, which you’ll reach in a 10-20 minute walk.

Here’s some accommodation you can consider if you like the Triana area:

  • Zenit Sevilla : 4-star hotel with really spacious rooms with wooden interiors, a rooftop terrace with a pool and views, at a great price;
  • B&B Casa Alfareria 59 : a colorful and budget-friendly Bed & Breakfast

At this point… all that’s left is to see what to visit in Sevilla during your stay! 🙂

Where to stay in Sevilla for young people?

  • Historic center: the center is full of options including bars, restaurants, disco bars, and other places frequented by young people where you can stay out late, conveniently getting around on foot;
  • Triana: in second place, Triana also offers a modest evening life with some bars active at night.

Accommodation found… and the flight?

Now that you know all about the best areas to stay in Sevilla, all that’s left is to find a cheap flight! Do a search in the box below, which compares all possible flights to Sevilla showing the cheapest and fastest ones! My advice is to always also look for flights departing from an airport a bit further from home; you might discover less expensive and non-stop flights!
