Nightlife in Rhodes explained: ultimate guide for any age

How is the nightlife in Rhodes? Good news: it suits everyone’s tastes. On an island as large as Rhodes, there are indeed several areas offering nightlife, suitable for all ages, from the most relaxed to the wildest. Keep reading to find the one that suits your taste best!

The island of Rhodes is big: with its “diameter” of 100 km it is the ninth largest island in the Mediterranean. It offers something for everyone, whether it’s the enchanting beaches of Rhodes, the sports available, the nature, the history it offers (thanks also to the medieval city), and not least the nightlife. Take a look at the other guides on Rhodes to discover what else to visit.

Where is the nightlife in Rhodes?

The three areas with the most nightlife in Rhodes are:

  • Faliraki, for the wildest nightlife and for younger crowds
  • Rhodes Town (both the “old town” and the new city) with disco bars and lounge bars
  • Lindos, for something more sophisticated

If nightlife is the purpose of your trip—or at least an important part—you should stay in one of these three areas. If you haven’t already booked, take a look at the guide to the best areas to stay in Rhodes, as, considering the size of the island (and even just Rhodes Town), staying in the wrong neighborhood could cause problems.
Let’s now take a more detailed look at the nightlife in the three mentioned areas.

Rhodes Town

Rhodes Town is the island’s largest city, located right at the northern tip. It mainly consists of two parts:

  • The ancient medieval city (Old town, in green on the following map), one of the few ancient cities in Europe that still preserves its entire wall, full of life inside as well as near the port in front of it, almost entirely car-free;
  • The new city or modern city, in red on the map below.

Brown pins indicate the main nightlife areas that will be mentioned.

The medieval city

The medieval city (old town) offers the most varied nightlife on the whole island, suitable for all ages.
Indeed, within the medieval city—a beautiful place that still preserves its entire walls, full of history (but also a bit too full of souvenir shops 😆 ) and definitely worth at least one visit—you’ll find options for any taste.

For those looking for something more relaxed, there are open-air bars and restaurants, both along the main walking streets and tucked away in some side alley.

The most popular areas are around the main squares, including Hippocrates Square (in the photo below), where there are several terrace bars with a panoramic view or pergolas, as well as some steps where you can sit and chat or sip something.

For those looking for something more refined, there are also some very well-kept lounge bars, with inviting sofas and cushions.

If you venture a bit off the more known streets, you might stumble upon a bar that’s a little more hidden but with an “alternative” vibe, like the one below (unfortunately I don’t remember where it was… I’ll leave you the pleasure of discovering it 🙂 )

Finally, if you don’t feel like sitting still, you’ll also find some disco bars where you can dance outdoors, like Fuego, just a few steps from Hippocrates Square.

If the medieval city has won you over and you want to stay here, clicking this link you can view the map with all available accommodations based on your dates. In the Old Town you’ll find something for every budget, for example:

  • Stavros Guesthouse: with excellent reviews, rooms with A/C, free wifi, private bathroom, parking available, pet-friendly;
  • Casa de la Sera: in a building with a nearly thousand-year-old façade but modernized inside, elegant soundproof rooms with free wifi, A/C, parking and airport shuttle available;
  • Suite Grand Maitre Rodos: an entire small villa at a very competitive price; wifi, kitchenette, hot tub, and A/C;

The New City

Just outside the northern walls of the medieval city, you get to the new city, where there’s no shortage of options, with three particularly lively areas in the evening.
The first area, just a few steps from the bus station and reachable in a 5-minute walk from the Old Town walls, is along Karpathou Street and Theodoraki Street: here you’ll find a handful of pedestrian boulevards with numerous lounge bars, disco bars, and fast food joints one after another. It’s not a place of wild nightlife: probably more suited for the beginning of the evening and definitely suitable for all ages at least up to 35.

The second area is the road that runs along Elli Beach, starting from the large port parking lot almost to the northern tip of the island. Along this boulevard—partly pedestrian and partly accessible to cars—you’ll find numerous “beach bar” style disco bars, active from evening until late at night, and a few small nightclubs. I must say some of these beach bars are really well curated, even with palm trees, plants, outdoor wooden furniture. They’re truly suitable for all ages, and you can either have a drink and chat or dance.

Last nightlife area in the new city is Orfanidou Street. This is a boulevard on the western end of the new city, dedicated solely to nightlife, with disco bars and nightclubs. The average age here is lower, so it’s recommended for those up to 25 years old. The area is somewhat of a small Paceville of Malta, for those familiar with that scene.

However, I don’t particularly recommend this last narrow boulevard; it gave me the impression of being a somewhat unsafe area.

  • Ibiscus Hotel: 4 stars with sea view on the beach marking the island’s northern tip; gym, breakfast included, and half-board option;

Nightlife in Faliraki

Faliraki is a district in the northeast of the island, less than half an hour by car from Rhodes Town, where the liveliest nightlife in Rhodes takes place.
Faliraki’s nightlife is extremely popular, mainly among 18 to 30-year-olds, many of them British, ready to party until late at night. To make a comparison, Faliraki in Rhodes is like Magaluf in Mallorca.

The Faliraki district is basically made up of a couple of streets, one of which is pedestrian, where you’ll find numerous bars, disco bars, small clubs, fast food places, and various small shops. Foam parties may also be found depending on the night.

Some of these venues have quite funny themes, like Bedrock and Mambo, to name a couple of examples.

Apart from nightlife, there’s not much else in Faliraki. It has a beach in front but it’s not too memorable. Just behind the district runs the island’s main highway.

I therefore recommend Faliraki to those who enjoy the British-style nightlife. If you don’t like that scene, I recommend staying elsewhere and maybe just visiting for one night. If you decide to stay in Faliraki, choose a place between the highway and the sea, where the nightlife streets are also located. Avoid the opposite side, as crossing the highway repeatedly, especially at night, may not be pleasant.

If, on the other hand, you want to party but not too late into the night, this boat party departing from Faliraki might be the right option for you!

Nightlife in Lindos

Lindos is the most picturesque and “Greek-style” town on the island, thanks to its completely white houses and narrow pedestrian alleys that already offer a charming atmosphere on their own.

Lindos offers the island’s most “VIP” nights. The nightlife in this small village, about 400 meters in diameter and accessible only on foot (you leave your car outside), mainly features some well-designed disco bars and lounge bars with unique atmospheres, appreciated by those looking for a place to wear an evening dress or try some truly special cocktails.

Unless you’re looking for wild partying, Lindos’ nightlife is probably suitable for all ages, even those who are no longer young.

  • Casalindos Festa: rooms or suites for 2 to 4 people in a typical villa, with kitchenette, A/C, and wifi; pet friendly;
  • Meandros Suites: suites with kitchenette for 2 or 3 people and a terrace with a view.

Rhodes clubs

The largest and most famous clubs in Rhodes are:

  • Paradiso Beach Club: located 3 km from Rhodes Town, easily reachable by private transport or a short taxi ride; open until morning, it has a capacity of 5000 people, sea view, and also hosts famous international DJs.
  • Amphitheatre Club: located 1 km from the town of Lindos, reachable even on foot. This too is a nightclub with a sea view and a view of the Lindos Acropolis, open until morning;
  • Colorado Club: large disco bar located in Rhodes Town, on Ofanidou Street.

Something cool

The evening or nightlife in Rhodes is not limited only to the three locations we discussed. If you have a rental car (which I highly recommend for getting around Rhodes), you can find other interesting venues scattered around smaller districts on the island.
One outstanding example is the Oasis Beach Bar. In front of a small rocky beach there are two small caves, one of which hosts a bar and the other the DJ console, where the set starts at sunset.

Still not enough clubs for you? Here you can find a list of all bars, disco bars, and nightclubs in Rhodes! 🙂

Rhodes for singles?

If you’re single and looking to meet new people, the island of Rhodes is a good destination. Rhodes Town, Faliraki, and Lindos are all good options, each in its own way.
In Rhodes Town you’ll find the most foot traffic, including many young people and probably the best opportunities regardless of your age: thanks to the combination of history, sights to visit, and evening life options, you’ll also encounter the highest number of solo travelers or people visiting Rhodes without their own vehicle. You might meet people during the day exploring the medieval city or Elli Beach, or in the evening across all the clubbing areas mentioned in the guide.

In Faliraki, you may find opportunities if you enjoy dancing and like the Anglo-style party scene.

In Lindos, even though there will be plenty of couples, you might once again come across some solo travelers charmed by the lovely atmosphere of a town perfect for romantic walks. If you don’t mind slightly posh places, it might be worth a couple of evenings; the town is small and maze-like—you might easily run into that group of singles you saw earlier on the beach… 🙂

I also recommend splitting your trip by staying in two different areas, instead of spending your entire vacation in one place, as I suggest in the guide on where to stay in Rhodes.

Now that you know everything about Rhodes nightlife, it’s time to discover the best beaches in Rhodes to relax at during the day!
