Northern coast of Skiathos: not just Mandraki Beach!

Mandraki Beach, Mandraki Elias, and Agistros Beach are three beaches in Skiathos adjacent to each other and located on the northern side of the island, the only ones on the northern side that you can reach even if your only means of transport is the bus (and feet).

The beaches on the northern side of the Greek island of Skiathos are a bit different from those on the southern side. They are a larger, a bit more wild (although they still have services), a bit harder to reach, and much more exposed to the wind.
In fact, before visiting them I recommend you check the wind forecast with an app like WindFinder to avoid unexpected surprises.

It is very common for the Meltemi wind to blow on the northern side, which could cause some issues for you.

Let’s first look at some pictures of the three beaches:

How to get there?

To reach Mandraki Beach, Mandraki Elias, and Agistros by bus, get off at stop number 23, enter the small road in front of the hotels, and keep left to walk along a 1 km path that will take you through a quiet pine forest to the beaches.
Towards the end of the path, you will find signs like these that will direct you to each of the three beaches:

From Mandraki Elias, you can also reach Agistros by climbing and descending the cliff that separates them, instead of retracing the entire path.

If you arrive by car or another vehicle, there are parking areas near each of these three beaches in Skiathos.

On these beaches in Skiathos, shaded areas are almost nonexistent, except near the cliffs at certain times of the day.

If the sea is calm, the water is beautiful and clear, but the beaches are not very clean, rather full of algae and dry vegetation, and they did not particularly fascinate me.

However, if you enjoy the wild type of beach, then these could be the perfect ones for you. In my opinion, the best is the westernmost, Mandraki Beach (or also “Mendraki”).

All the beaches are equipped with bars and umbrellas. Be careful if you follow Google Maps to find the access paths, because some of them are incorrect. I always recommend downloading the island maps with Maps.me app and use these while navigating.

Before you trip don’t forget to check the best areas to stay in Skiathos and don’t miss the map with directions of all the other beaches of Skiathos and how to reach them by bus.
